You Eavesdropped This: A Solo Journaling Micro RPG
A downloadable game
This solo print-and-play game zine is meant to be folded up and kept in your purse or pocket to play anytime, anywhere you accidentally overhear something that catches you by surprise. (Not that you mean to eavesdrop, of course... But, hey, we've all been there.)
All you need to play is a pen (or a pencil, if you want to reuse the same paper over and over again) and a way to tell the time.

TWO WAYS TO PLAY
AS A CHARACTER: If writer's block has you in a chokehold, slip into the shoes of a character and imagine it's them who overheard what reached your ears—and that whatever it is they heard is actually critical to their story. A few examples to get your wheels turning:
- You're a spy gathering intel. You knew your target/fellow spy would speak in code out in public, but you had no idea it would be so difficult to decipher
- It's your character's best friend talking to the last person you'd expect
- What you've just heard is the sentence that somehow confirms they're a time-traveler
AS AN AUTHOR: Use the singular sentence and expand it into a full-blown scenario. Weave it into your WIP, or use it to spark your next story!

What happens after that fateful line of dialogue? It's entirely up to you how much you build upon the scenario. I've used the basic principles of this game in my own writing life to craft multiple short stories!
